Consider this though, I already own a stamp, so the cost is not a problem.
@nd so what if is slow. Does it really make that big of a difference. I have
never been in such a hurry that I absolutely had to get a file in less then
a second. 3rd, the basic stamp 2 only needs a few wires to connect to the
serial port. So no technical interface other than an RJ-11 to 9pin is
necessary.

Again, just because there is no pic or avr, doesn't mean it won't work.

| Ummm...  Making an expander on the stamp would #1 Cost 2x more than an
| AVR/PIC/HC version, and be 5x slower.  You have to have an interface to
| connect any expander no matter what to the computer.
