TI-H: Piggybacking a ROM image

Say i decided i wanted to piggyback a new ROM image onto my calc. About what
are the chances of my completely destroying my calc with the soldering iron?
I'm fairly good a soldering, but i've never worked directly inside my 85. I
use one of those cheap soldering pencils, so i have no control at all over
the temperature. Should i just go out and buy myself a real soldering iron?
(I haven't yet because i've had no need to).
