Re: TI-H: USB Link

Still, regardless of the lack of standard ports, and use of USB, the iMac was
designed to be an internet machine. It comes with an internal modem, keyboard,
mouse, and a computer with built in monitor. Great deal for $1200 or $1300 or
whatever it is. Especialy since it includes a G3! (:

Seriously though, it's a low end machine, designed for family use, mainly
internet. I notice thay have a SuperDisk Drive and a Printer and a scanner.
That easily makes up the average home internet system. Computer, printer,
storage, and scanning. It's never been intended for 4.1 M whatever video
stuff, and it was never intended for people who need 6 PCI slots, onor was it
made for graphic designers who work with files that can range into 100s of MB
and has to have fast storage and such.

It's a low end family/school computer designed for multimedia (the CD-ROM) and
internet (the modem). USB was probably cheaper, and they may someday try to
replace the old serial port with the high speed USB system. If USB can someday
match SCSI, them maybe it will go too, but you notice the high end machines
all have SCSI and serial. It's standard, and backwards compatible.

The iMac is a starter computer or a family/school computer.

All I know, Is I'd like to see a USB graphlink software/hardware package
created. Even if no one ever decides to invest in both an iMac and a TI calc,
at least you'll know it's there! (:
