RE: TI-H: new schematic
Granted the range is good, but shouldn't low-power consumption come first. We can always humiliate the HP pack later with a 150ft IR transmission assembly.

The size of the links depend on the builder, my prototype was large to make for mods. You could put it in a small enough box to hold the parts, a PCboard isn't really necessary. I really designed this to work between
two calcs, but it can be used to link to your PC as well. It has a range of about 3.5m at the most. I am currently working on a high output version that should work at almost a 50m. Also, it does not have to be in
direct-line-of-sight. It has about a 30 degree range. It NEEDS the 5v to power the IC's, it is NOT a SPINterface project. And finally, yes the RS-232 driversc ould be used as a TI-modem basis.
