Ummmmm.. Duhhh, I just looked at my parallel link cable that I built, and
it has a detented tip too... It works perfectly.. So I guess I answered my
own question.. Certain detented ones probably work and others don't...
Measurement of my plug... Why? Uhmmm, no life, and too much free time.

. This is a little metal shim/buffer between the sleeve and the
plastic case of the 2.5mm connector. The shim is electrically the same as
the sleeve, and if you look at the female 2.5mm connector on the calc, you
will see that it is recessed about 1/16". This shim fits snugly into that
recess. I'm wondering if it's not the detents causing the problem, but the
tip not being able to reach the contactor? Anybody else have any
measurements? Longer? Shorter? Do all of the 2.5mm connectors have the
shim? Those ppl who's didn't work could maybe be more help by measuring
they're plugs. I hope this helps somebody, ASCII art is a pain.. :)
