I've heard of parallel ports that don't work with the parallel link
cable. You can try putting the port in a "standard" mode if it's in ECP
or EPP mode (this is usually done in the BIOS Setup) or install an old
I/O card with a printer port. I've seen a FAQ about parallel link cable
problems somewhere, you could try searching with e.g. AltaVista.
