I had that problem too with my 85, it seems the prongs in the linkport (I'm
guessing it was the tip one) got pushed in too far and wouldn't make contact
with any sort of plug, so I ended up having to get a very small hook and pull
it farther out (I did it to all the prongs). It works fine now.
