I built the $4 serial cable for my TI-85, but I can't seem to send files
to my calc, only send them from my calc. Very weird.
The information with the link program and the cable say that when a send is
initiated on the PC, both the red and white (tip and middle of the plug)
wires should go from -.7V to 4.3V. On my cable, only the middle goes to
4.3,
with the top staying at -.7V.
If I receive on the PC, then both go to 4.3V, so I'd presume this to mean
that the cable is made properly, and the software is working.
Help! ;-)
I've checked the diodes, and they both seem to be working...there's good
conductivity throughout the cable..I can't think of anything else to check.
I did use a different LED than in the spec (I use T-1 Size red diode with
a 2.0V forward voltage...RS #276-026a), but the specs say "almost any LED
will work", so I don't suspect that.
Any ideas?
