The lime light sounds like a pretty cool idea for backlighting, but
in case it doesen't work , I have another similar suggestion. I saw
these booklights in a catalog that were basically glass panels that
lit up. You weged them into the center of where you were reading.
The one I saw ran off a car ciggarette lighter, but the catalog
mentioned ones that ran of batteries. Maybe it could go behind the
LCD layer, but on top of the reflective layer (I have no idea whether
this will work) and since it is glass, there won't be the problem of
shining the light through the reflective layer like with the
limelight. Also, the glass part is imbedded in a plastic thing on
its side, where the light probably comes from. Maybe the same thing
could be done directly to the glass that covers the screen.
PS: Whatever happened to using a fiber optic cable connected to LEDs?
