I've thought about it a little bit, and came up with this idea for the
IR link:


Transmitter: Output of the TI goes to a oscillator that flashes an LED
at, say, 10kHz. It flashes when data =0, off when data=1,


Receiver: Hmm... I'm not too sure, but how bout this: Radio Shack IR
receiver, connected to something that only receives a 10kHz signal. A
tone decoder was mentioned, I'll check the specs on it and see how
it's used. 


I'm pretty sure this would require external power. Well, that's all I
have to say, please critique this and lets make it work!
