While running the emulator (the version currently on TICALC.ORG),
I noticed that greyscale pics do not display correctly (FLICKER!)
Thinking this was due to the timer interrupts, I disabled the timer
interrupt thru the PIC before calling the emulator. The emulator
then didn't work at all. So, assuming the emulator uses the timer
as the Z80 clock, I tried speeding up the clock. Big time.
Like, one hour every two or three seconds. The emulator
apparently reset it to the normal value.
Does anyone know how the emulator uses the timer interrupt or
why greyscale doesn't work? I'm thinking it's because of the
shorter persistance of the phosphors vs. that of the LCD,
but I could be wrong.
