Re: Request for Assistance on Logs/Anti-LOGS
It's a small point, but if you actually want the antilog (or whatever you
want to call it) of 2.307 on a TI 89/92 using "Advanced Mathematics Software
version 1.00" - check using "HOME F1 A(about)", then you will obtain the
following:
1. with mode set to "Exact", 10^2.307 ENTER returns 100x10^(307/1000)
2. with mode set to "approximate" , 10^2.307 ENTER returns 202.768
3. with mode set to "auto" , 10^2.307 ENTER returns 202.768
Furthermore, using the function "log" maybe from the catalog,
4. with mode set to "Exact", log 52 ENTER returns Ln(52)/Ln(10)
5. with mode set to "approximate" , log 52 ENTER returns 1.716
6. with mode set to "auto" , log 52 ENTER returns Ln(52)/Ln(10)
The software is not entirely consistent. But, usually "exact" mode returns
Ln(a)/Ln(10) for log(a), accurate but not helpful. On the other hand if you
set the mode to "approximate" then a numerical value is returned.
In the modes "exact" and "auto",
10^(Ln(52)/Ln(10)) ENTER returns 52 - in"approximate" mode, 52. is returned
(note the decimal point).
I don't know what changes may result from downloading version 2 of the
software.
I hope this helps.
