h = (1/2)gt^2 4 / 3.28 = 1.2195
1.2195 m = (1/2)(9.8)t^2
1.2195 m = 4.9t^2
0.5 = t
v = gt
v = (9.8)(0.5)
v = 4.9 m/s
Or something like that. I'm feeling like <insert profanity here> tonight.
Anyway...
I've dropped my TI-83 while running @ approximately 4 ft on hard
concrete. The thing still works fine -- not a scratch, except on the case.
When one drops a TI, there are two possible courses of action:
They'll either survive drops unscathed, or they'll fail to work.
If you have another calculator, try doing some basic operations on the 89
and compare the answers to that of the other calculator.
All that you should need to test is if the thing still says 2 + 2 = 4.
After all, computers do basically everything using addition.
