I've had nothing but trouble with homemade links. I bought one last year
for $10, it died after 6 months. This time I ordered a serial, and it
doesn't work at all, so I returned it. I just got sick of this and ordered
an TI Graphlink form calc.org for $24.
It's worth the extra 10 or so dollars that you get for quality engineering
and the ability to use TI's great Graphlink software. Also, for TI 83Plus,
73, 89, 92 you must have the graphlink to do flash updates. Now that the
Graphlink is under $30 and not the old $50 there is no reason to buy
homemade cables.
