RE: 1
Not that I am totally against macs or anything, I think that some
people need
them, but I have to say to you that getting a new G3 or iMac is probably
the worst
thing a person could do, they are not all they're cracked up to be and they
cost a
lot more. If you already have the thing then I feel sorry for you because
I knwo
from experience that iMacs can't do anything practically, the only way to
print on
one is to hook it up to a superior machine or a network, but who would have a
network of things with such horrible stats?
In short, the answer to your question is that if you're using an iMac or G3,
just transfer the program first to a superior machine and then to your
calculator,
or take a circuitry course and find a way to convert a serial port to a
usb, or buy
a goddamn converter, it should work the same as long as it will send the same
signals with a similar fashion.
Sorry 'bout my ramblings, I'm kinda hyper from too many cappuccinos.

P.S. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings or sound lie a dick when I was talking
about G3s and Imacs, I'm quite the hypocrite for other reasons because I hate
windows but I can't use linux because I can't get the money at the moment
to buy a
decent hard drive and the linux CDs (I can get the CDs but not the Hard Drive).
RE2:
I have a new (December) G3 Powerbook, and it works fine with my original
TI-Link cable, and the new link software (which I downloaded for 86, 92,
92+, etc.). My only problem is that the Powerbook has a single
pronter/modem port so I can't send directly from a calculator to my printer.
I need a switch to have both my printer and link onnected at the same time.
Inconvenient, but everything works.

RE3:
You're right about the Keyspan adapter. Read this for more:
http://tifaq.calc.org/#3.4.1
RE4:
Check out the Keyspan site here:
http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/adapter/docs/swp/03Compatibility.html
This page explicitly lists TI Graph Link as being compatible with the
USB-serial adapter.
RE5:
I have one of the original "Bondi Blue" iMacs and have got it working (with help
from tech support) with my classic Mac serial devices like Graph-Link and Palm
Pilot by using an "iDock", which sits under the iMac and converts an iMac
USB port
to one of three old fashioned serial ports. The iDock also has two USB
outputs and
a parallel output. I have yet to get my Epson 800 working with the iMac, but it
seems to be a matter of a $35.00 cable/adapter which will go straight from
the iMac
to the printer (not via iDock.).
I got the iDock through MacWarehouse.
RE6:
I have had success using the 83 software and the USB serial adapter. It
wasn't a problem, but it was an additional expense.
