As with most sensitive electronic devices, it's recommended that you use
alkaline batteries. (although non alkaline batteries would probably work for a
time) NiCa...assuming you meant nickel cadmium batteries, are not alkaline. If
you want to use rechargeable batteries, go get the rayvac renewal batteries
(they're alkaline) and charger. (about $15 for both)
