TI83...broken?

I have a probem and i have no idea what to do...
Yesterday my TI83 didn4t want to work properly when i pressed ON, it says
that "It4s low on battery" so i tryed them and foud out that 1 of the 4 AAA was
totally dead, the other ones were just fine... I could start it but after a
little while
the screen goes dead... Then i tried to use 4 AAA NiCa batterys but the screen
didn4t show ANYTHING, why shoulnd4t NiCa betterys be used? Now i don4t get
anything on the screen with the original batterys either....
I used 180 mAh 1.2 volt. When i try them on a multi-meter they show a
significant
bigger readout than the original battery;Rayovac...
I hope i haven4t broke my 83...=(
