normal probability plots
A query about normal probability (aka normal quantile) plots was posted to
CALC-TI a couple of days ago. I am sending this to GRAPH-TI as well, since
these may be useful for teachers. Apologies to those who read both lists.
Attached to this message are programs to make normal probability plots for
the TI-86 and TI-85. These programs need no support software (e.g., the 86
advanced stats package). To use them, have your data in a list (say,
"mydata"), then run the NormPlot program. Type the name of your list in
response to the "Data List" prompt, and after a bit of computation, a
normal probability plot will be drawn on the screen. Your original data
list is unchanged, and if you want to refer to the normal quantiles, they
are stored in a list called "nscores" (in the appropriate order to match up
with your original data).
For information on interpreting these plots, consult a statistics textbook.
