Any way to use the 89 as a timer, and what's I/O speed if ti's (89),

I would like to use the ti-89 to time the execution of some of it's own
commands. Is that possible?
(Something like
GetTime()->t
factor(1234567891)
t-GetTime()->t
t)

Can anyone tell me the I/O speed of the ti89, both when communicating with
another ti and with a pc?
