As far as I've heard (do not remember where) the circuit downsamples the
data to 9600bps because of a limitation in Macintosh computers - should
exist both black and grey TI cables of which only the new gray ones can be
used with Macintoshs (the black cable does not have the circuit). Something
tells me that the old gls does not work together with TI's recent software,
is this right?

Otherwise I think it would be easier to analyse one of these cables.
