Nope, not possible without a memory backup from another TI-85 or a
computer. That is the whole reason you need a memory backup to install
an assembly shell - to put it in the custom menu. The backup file has
to be modified to put it in there. The custom menu acts as a pointer
into the calc's memory and when something is executed it runs as
assembly language. TI did not want to (or realize that they could) put
assembly language capabilities on the 85 so if you could put an item
into the custom menu other than one of the 85's programs then you could
go around freezing your calc by executing bad assembly programs. This
is different, however, on the 86. On that calc [as far as I can tell]
the custom menu simply acts as a shortcut to a program. You can put
anything in the custom menu but you still have to push Enter after you
select the program.
