Iteration isn't necessarily dependent on just the last result - I can name a
couple of mathematical processes that depend on, say, the last two results,
etc.
Also, iteration does not differ from recursion in that iteration approaches a
limit. The cycles of the Lucas-Lehmer test are iterations, and they jump wildly
around.
