To those who responded,
Thank you all for your help with my problem. Charlie R. wins the
prize (a partially chewed stick of gum) for his no-nonsense quadratic
approach. I would have never thought of rearranging the equation into a
quadratic in Y, then partitioning into the standard Quadratic Formula.
It just shows that there is always something new to learn.
