Actually, I remember reading about how the Tamagotchi's really don't
have any artificial intelligence and instead rely on something like four
variables, namely weight, hunger, intelligence (I think), and age.
Something like that.  Anyway, this guy went to great detail talking
about how the Tamagotchi isn't really that complicated.  Now, a timer
would be required, but aside from that, the artificial intelligence
wouldn't be much of a hurdle...
