Re: shells for ti-85
Yes, it is relatively easy to port code, but certain not a 'coupla
minutes' job. It also depends greatly on the way the code has been
written. And relatively easy really does mean relatively.. as compared
to porting other code, say, from the 85 to the 92.
There is CShell, which really is just like ZShell except you can hit
[2ND] while in the cshell menu to turn off your calc. (turning it on
will put it right in the menu again.) Virtually the same size.
OS7 is the smallest @ 400 something bytes, but it has no menu. that
is, you type in (just plain at the cursor) the name of the program
string, and instead of hitting enter you hit custom F1. a bit unhandy
to run programs from, but if you really need the memory :-).
PhatOS also has the [2nd] off feature. It can hide strings as well,
though you can still run them (you can't see them with mem/delete, nor
with vars/ or link/ menus.
Usgard is a bit bigger, though the larger version has some extra nice
features.
There is some software specifically written for Usgard and PhatOS. As
such, you need those OSes to run them. Not all that much is out there
though.
As to OS85 and OShell85... OS85 is a bit too big, and OShell85 crashed
on me once.
