TI-92 terminal emulation

Hello, my company is currently evaluating the TI-92 as a low-cost handheld
computer that could be used as a point-of-sale greeter solution. I have a few
questions that I'm hoping someone reading this might be able to answer.

The first thing we would need for this to work is a vt-100 terminal emulation
program that could run on the TI that would be tethered to a workstation over
a serial cable or an RF modem. Is there an existing program that would provide
this or would we have to write this ourselves? I know there is a program
called FTerm on the net that looks like it is designed mainly for dialing out
on a modem. Does anyone know if this will work over a standard serial cable or
not and whether it supports vt100 emulation?

Secondly, it would be great if the calculator had a second serial port that we
could hook a receipt printer to. Does anyone know if the viewscreen port
could be co-opted for this use? I couldn't find any information on the net
describing how this port functioned.

The last question I have is how durable/long-lasting is the TI-92? How long
can it operate on a freshly charged set of batteries and can it stand up to
constant day-to-day use?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this.
