His point was that you shouldn't distribute programs/utils/games without
permission from the author first. TICALC.org distributes games ONLY if the
author of the program wants it there. Since it doesn't cost a thing to
download programs from TICALC.org (in other words: its **FREE**). If the
author wishes to sell (or have somebody else sell) their program, then its
fine. However, if you start making any type of profit from distributing
THEIR programs, you will have a bunch of SEVERELY ticked off people on your
hands (and many other things will happen to you as well that will wreck
your reputation as a person).

About 4 months ago I would probably be indifferent because I wouldn't
understand how people would react. I am telling you from experience not to
do this. You will get flamed severely and might have to change e-mail
accounts (a few people might defend you but I doubt it once they learn what
you did) because of flooding. I am always careful as to what I send to
this list since I want to help and not hurt people as possible programmers.
I am telling you not to do this so that someone might possibly create a
really awesome game, utility, or fun program because they don't have to
worry about someone making a profit at their expense.

I hope I have made myself fairly clear. If you do create this, expect
about half a million messages from my domain alone (and MACs are slow
downloading things from what I hear). I will flood your e-mail address to
its limit (if you have one) every day for the rest of your life. I AM NOT
WILLING TO SEE SOMEONE
NOT ATTEMPT TO PROGRAM BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT THEIR PROGRAMS WILL BE SOLD
AT A
PROFIT. I think that many others on this list will say the same thing I have.
