Forget solver this is the easiest way to solve something on a ti82
say you want to find x in : 4x = 8 : do this
Hit  "Y="
Type in the first half of your equation to the equals sign so you have :
Y1= 4X
now hit enter
type the second half of your equation in Y2 so you have :
Y2 = 8
Now hit 2nd Calc (above trace)
hit 5
enter
enter
enter
now at the botme of the screen you see x = 2  and Y = 8  unless you have 2
variables ignor the Y = part.
Not as easy as the 85 but hay it werks.
      Let me know if it doesn't work.
