Re: TI-85 vs TI-83

Sir, I am in an advanced algebra class and have an 83. Honestly (please
don't tell your son I told you this), the only reason he wants an 85 is
because he and his friends can share their programs.

If you didn't know already, one can load and play games on a TI-85, and
since his friends have 85's, he could easily get these games from them.
It's a simple operation of connecting the calculators and pushing a few
buttons.

Otherwise (if he doesn't want to play the games...) it's fine...the 85
takes some getting used to because it's a different interface. It's not
faster at all. Both calcs have the EXACT same processor. The screen,
however, is of a higher resolution and the 85 has some advanced functions,
such as built-in engineering conversions, but that's not really necessary
in algebra, is it? And the 85 is good through advanced college calculus
(2-D).

Trust me, he wants to play the games! I personally bought my 83 because of
its table of values function and several other display options that make
operation easier. It's helped me a lot.
