For a GREAT free hex-editor on the Macintosh, look into ResEdit, which also
can do file manipulation to your heart's content. On the PC, there are
literally hundreds for all platforms. Under dos, I recommend HexEd, and
for Windows95 and NT, nothing beats Hex Wizard. I don't know about Windows
3.11, but I know there are comparable applications.
