Don't change the IRQ of the COM port. This can lead to future problems.
Are you using Win95? It sounds like you are. Anyways, the fix is the same
with Win 3.x and Win95. I have 3 COM ports, one for the mouse, one for the
modem, and one for the Graph-Link. Remember that COM1 and COM3 share the
same IRQ and COM2 and COM4 share the same IRQ. This sequence keeps
increasing, so odd numbered COM ports have the same IRQ and even numbered
have the same IRQ. Follow? What you must do is put the Graph-Link on a
COM port that will not use an IRQ of another COM port at the same time.
For example, if your mouse is connected to COM1, don't plug the Graph-Link
into COM3. If you have an internal modem, try jumpering it for COM3 or
higher. This can eliminate conflicts with COM1 and COM2 which come
standard with most IDE controllers. The solution for my setup is to have
the Graph-Link on COM1, mouse on COM2, and modem on COM3. I will never use
the modem and Graph-Link at the same time, so no conflicts. Plus, the
mouse is on COM2 so I can use it all the time.
