I tried sin^-1(cos^-1(tan^-1(5))) on my TI-92 (ROM 1.7) and it did indeed
produce some strange results... Experimenting further, when you do
cos^-1(tan^-1(tt)) (or any other unused name) you get a very unusual
identity involving the entry, 180, and \pi\. Try it.
cos^-1(x) by itself does the trick as well, but sin^-1(x) and tan^-1(x)
just return themselves. I wonder why?
