Yes, there is a utility program on the original Link-85 distribution
floppy from TI by the name of Conv2str.85p.  I use it in a few
programs to format the output to the home screen.

I can't explain how it works because I've never examined it in depth.
Search for the file name at TI's ftp site.  The program uses about 657
bytes of RAM.
