Please Mr. Domroy, read this, don't just pass it off because you want to
ignore me, because I am a student, I am a teenager,

Okay. I may not be under fire at the moment, but I'm going to defend the
person you just flamed. (Even though you indirectly flamed anyone else on
the entire list that you've ever disagreed with, which seems to be any
student) The purpose of this mailing list is not to flame other people
because their views are different then yours. God forbid that someone else
may actually be entitled to their own opinion and views. I don't see how
you can be a teacher, and yet don't understand that, even though you surely
deal with hundreds of kids a day, everyone is entitled to their own views,
opinions, beliefs, etc. If someone believes that they are entitled to
enjoy themselves during class (I am not saying this is ME, or this is
ANYONE else who has posted a message to this list), and one of the things
they like to do is play games on their calculator, why are you trying to
play god and change their views? If that's what they want, let them have
it, and either it will all work out, and they will do okay, or they will be
hit with a ton of bricks in college, and learn their lesson. People learn
nothing when you reprimand them for something they haven't even tried,
people learn by DOING.

You won't give up, will you. Let me re-clarify.
A) It's SECOND YEAR algebra. Maybe you didn't read the titles of the
messages, they were all Algebra II or Algebra 2 in them. It was also
stated within the message.
B) There is no NEED for a TI-92 to pass second year algebra. In fact, the
92 is not being used to solve the problems, it is being used as a TOOL to
CHECK work. Heck, I can GUARENTEE that I could take the class, and just
use a TI-82, since that is what is provided to students if they don't have
one. Free of charge. The class is BASED out of TI calculators, does that
tell you something, just maybe, that there may be a reason to be asking
about such things? Calculators are tools. They don't think for us.
They're just a smart as the person using them. A computer won't do
anything for you if you don't know how it works. It's similar in this
case. After all, the 92 is for the most part a computer.

Explain to me then why by being a teacher ("As a teacher, I am offended
that you must clutter....") gives you special rights over teenagers to
clutter up the mailing list? Do you honestly think that your message
served any beneficial purpose to this list? Do you think that your blatant
flame made all of the people on this list more understanding, do you think
that you, as a teacher, TAUGHT them ANYTHING? Do you think that teachers
are special? I sure hope you do, because they are. Yes, you hear me
right. They are. That doesn't mean they have special rights in an
electronic realm. That doesn't mean you are BETTER than all of the
teenagers and other people you consider your inferiors. We're not in
school Mr. Domroy. Everyone here is on the same terms, no matter what age,
race, sex, religion, etc. they are, we are all equal. So your clutter is
JUST AS BAD as any ["stupid message"] that some teenager might write. I
thought teachers were supposed to be supportive of their students. I
thought that teachers were supposed to HELP students when they had
problems, not reprimand them, but teach them instead. Where is this
teacher in you now?

                                Sincerely,

My personal apologies to everyone else on the list that has to put up with
this. If this continues much longer, I will make my best attempt to take
this to a more personal level, and not waste your time.
