Not to be the perpetual marketing cynic that I tend to be, but I think
chances are pretty good that OS-92 would have to wind up being smaller than
the shells packaged with Fargo, PlusShell, and Doors to gain major market
share. Why, you ask, when the TI-92+ promises scads more memory? Well,
because programmers have been taking advantage of this and producing
-bigger programs-. Yes, this means better graphics and all, but it still
means bigger programs. I have filled up my TI-92+ before using only the OS
shell, a Mario clone, Tetris, and another game which I don't recall.
Point is, memory is still a concern. On a screen this small, a graphical
operating system will probably have to offer considerably improved ease of
use and smaller size to win over the traditional text-based shells.
