---------==================================================-------------
Q. How do I see what ROM version I have?
A. It is quite simple. First, make sure that you are not in Fargo, and
that
you -are- at the home screen. Now, press F5 ,then the green diamond key,
and finally the ( key. Press 2nd followed by the ESC key to return to
the
home screen.
Q. How do I start Fargo?
A. Fargo may be executed in two ways. The first is the easiest: Press the
Shift Key (That's the key with the white arrow pointing up right above
the ON key) and then press the ON key. Or, type shell() at the home
screen. You may also start Fargo programs directly this way. Let's say
you wanted to run ftris. You just type ftris() at the home screen, and
it will instantly have the program waiting for you.
Q. How do I reset my TI-92 if Fargo locks up?
A. Like most computers, the TI-92 now supports multiple key resets. Press
and hold down the 2nd, Lock, and ON keys. Then, let up and your screen
will
go black. Make sure that if you want to let someone borrow your
calculator
that you do NOT tell them about this command!
Q. My screen went all black... How do I get it back!?
A. Press and hold the green diamond key. Then press either the - or + keys.
The - key will go from black to light, and the + key will adjust the
screen from light to dark.
Q. What chip does the TI-92 use?
A. The TI-92 uses a custom-made variant of Motorola's 68000
Microprocessor.
This chip runs at 10Mhz, which is faster than a Macintosh Classic
Computer, which uses the same chip except at 8Mhz. The Macintosh SE,
Plus,
512k, 128, and Powerbook 100 all used a 68000 just like you use in your
TI-92.
Q. Is there a wall plug-in power adapter available for the 92?
A. No. Not officially from Texas Instruments. However, there is talk
about
the possibility of a home-made power adapter in the future will be
possible.
Q. My 92 has the overhead projector port on it, therefore is my 92
special?
A. No. All current shipping TI-92's come with that port as a standard
feature.
Q. How do I speed up my TI-92?
A. Many people are interested in this question, and so far no one has
publicly released the schematics on exactly how to do it.
Q. Can fargo damage my calculator to the point that it will
not work properly?
A. No. The worst Fargo could possibly do to your calculator is reset the
memory, losing any programs you wrote. If this *does* happen, then the
calculator will reset itself to factory settings, so it will be in the
exact same state as when you bought it.
Q. I lent someone my calc, and now I'm locked out of it. My password does
not work anymore. Why?
A. You were running an old or beta version of a password protection
utility.
Those versions do NOT ask you for your password if you wish to change
your password. So, that person changed the password on you! The best
and
most current Fargo security program I know of is Keepout 2.0. It asks
you for the password before it will let you change it. Now, you can
let others use your calculator and not worry about being locked out of
it
yourself!
Q. Where can I get the current versions of all Fargo programs?
A. http://www.ticalc.org/
ticalc.org has the largest selection of TI-92 and Fargo information.
