Clarification here:
In the original PC speaker, the speaker can be either in or out
(off or on). By alternating the two states quickly, one achieves
1-bit sound. The output of one of the timers is fed directly
to the speaker--no DAC.
On modern PC's, digital data on the order of 16-bit is fed
to a special DAC in your sound card.
