Just wanted to clarify how the greyscale works...
there are 2 "bitplanes" what could be better called virtual screens.
what is done to make greyscale is that the 2 screens are switched back
and forth rapidly, showing one for about 3/4 of the time, and the other
about 1/3 of the time.  to get black, you would want the pixle on *all*
of the time, so you set it to 1 on both bitplanes.  your right about
white, in that it is not needed.

but you statement should have been:  " i.e. *4* colors, white, black,
and *2 different grays*. two bin files for *light and dark gray*. since
there is no need for the *white or black bitmaps*"
(changed parts in **)
You mix both greys to make black, or turn them both off to make white
