As I read my reply, it seems my last explanation was a bit ambiguous.  I
will atttempt to clarify here.

I meant not that the _program_ would be longer.  That is not the case.
Rather, equates take up no space in the assembled program whatsoever.  I had
meant that 'number' is more typing than '5'.  Not a big deal.
I apologize for my ambiguity.
