I remember a discussion about this before and I'm not sure this idea will
work.  The Flash ROM may break down after too much archive/unarchive of
variables, but the manual says it's garbage collections.  What you'd need
to do would be archive two variables, unarchive the second and repeat.
After some time this would force the 89 to perform _one_ garbage
collection.  I remember someone saying that the Flash ROM's life is several
thousand garbage collections.  This would definitly take a while.
