That most definitely does stand for Texas Instruments.  One of their major production centers is literally not 3 miles from my house here in Austin.

Is that what TI stands for?  Anyways I don't know?  Maybe a retailer in
france "put it out" by accident (yeah TI sent them a bow of TI-89's with a
big sticker "Do not open 'til xx-xx-xx") :P
