Out of curiosity, does it guess based on the extension or on the content?
Guessing by the extension is MUCH more error-prone.

I agree that it can be nice to have the source all wrapped up in a little
file, but not doing that encourages people to just include a small
relevant piece rather than the whole huge source file.
(not like it matters much on this sad little list...)
