where are you putting your interrupt routine? i put the table at
$f400-$f500 and the routine at $f5f5. the only thing you'll have
problems with are really big programs. you could move all the way up to
$f900-$fa00 and $fafa...
it wouldn't work with anything that used grayscale, though. there is no
way to slow down such a program without modifying it.
