yeah, I had that prob when I first got my calc.  U gotta take out all the
bats, including the lithium, press ON repeatedly for  15 secs, then leave
your batts out for a day.  ROMs 1.3, 1.4, and 1.6 seem to have this bug. 
Then, when u put in new bats, make sure EVERYTHING IS FRESH!  Including
the lithium.  Once you get past this bug the first time it won't happen
again.  I like  to refer to it as a "ROYAL CRASH"  :)
