I've had a problem similar to yours but not exactly like it.  My old 
computer was COM port challenged so I'd unplug the mouse and plug in my 
link.  But after using the link and plugging the mouse back in the mouse 
wouldn't work.  It has something to do with that port getting set to the 
graphlink or something.  I'm not sure if that'll help you but I hope it 
does.
