Without ROM dumps, there would be fewer Asm programmers and fewer good programs. Good programs greatly increase people's desire to buy a TI calculator and thus nets more cash for TI. As it was said earlier, it is not likely that TI would try to sue Asm programmers, who represent a large portion of TI calc owners.
