Yes.

It is not.  The converter is in the plastic computer-side connector.
It may be something for filtering interference or dampening the
transmission EMF, or something for error-correcting/checksums.
I don't know.

I discovered that they do not take well to use with the CBL.  Pat,
you know anything about this?
