A86: Modems: AT command set
I know this may be a little off topic, but...
I know you can give Hayes compatible modems AT commands like ATDT (dial).
But, how does the modem know the difference between an AT command and
regular data? For example, I can go into my terminal program and type
ATDTxxx-xxxx to dial-up my isp, but when is see the "logon:" prompt, I can
type AT or whatever, and the modem doesn't take it as a command. Why?
Could someone please explain how all the AT commands work (not the commands,
but how the modem receives them)?
Thanks,
David Phillips
