You've touched upon a subject which I am dying to find out about.  The stat
package has a whole slew of functiosn callable from the homescreen, and
basic.  Its not an interrupt so there has to be some sort of function table
to write to in the ram, aybe with pointers.  It'd be great if Pat would help
us out instead of hogging everything. :)
