I haven't been following this much, but you are talking about finding
significant figures right?  I am am nearing completion on a basic program
that will find sigfigs, multiply, divide, add, subtract, do logarithms, and
roots.  I had tried before, but this time it looks to be nearly, if not,
perfect.  If you want to see my code just ask, but it hasn't been released yet.
